An Encounter with Stefan Zweig
In the Grand Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, two extremes of human experience converge: the solitude of the individual and the strength of the collective. As hundreds of singers come together to form a shared sound, Stefan Zweig’s words from Sternstunden der Menschheit draw us into the profound isolation of the polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott – into those final hours in which, facing death, a human being gives expression to what is most essential.

Out of this solitude emerge Scott’s letters – not as farewells alone, but as powerful affirmations of connection: to loved ones, to companions, to humanity. What is distilled in the individual voice finds its resonance in the choir.
This project unfolds as a space between individual and collective experience – between a single voice and a shared response.
