There are four fun components to our event. 
1. It is a a chili cookoff, a challenge to make the best chili, but also you can win best salad, best corn bread, and best dessert trophies as well. You are also welcome to bring anything you cook well and we'll be very happy about it. If you want someone to appreciate your cooking, this is a great place to bring it. These are really nice people. 

2. It is the world's WEIRDEST silent and live auction. You've never seen anything like it. People are encouraged to bring the weirdest thing they no longer want. They donate the strangest items and we put them up for silent auction. That's the kind of auction where you write your name down and place the next bid. The stuff is unusual, inexpensive, and the money will be used well. So bring something weird and wild and buy something that is also weird and wild. 

3. It is a fundraiser. It is $20 to attend (a very reasonable price for a delicious chili dinner) and $10 for kids under 14. The price includes food and drinks (soda and free beer) The money raised goes directly to our clean up work. We pay no rent nor salaries. We just clean up trash.

4. There is always some sort of strange eating contest. In the past we have eaten pies, eaten bugs, and other things. It is always a surprise. 

About the silent auction: It is weird and fun. It is also an invitation to you to bring the strangest thing you have in your basement or garage that you were "saving for a yard sale". If you don't mind donating it, we will appreciate it. Past auctions have included: an Alpaca rug, a coffin, anatomically correct medical parts, a number of singing bass sculptures, lots of tools that people bought because they needed to use once and then never again, camping stuff, manly things, household things, and drugs. If you have an item or two for the silent auction, just bring it. We will process it immediately and put it out there. We will also do a live auction for a few of the best things. 

There will be a brief presentation about where your money is going, and what we plan to accomplish in 2026. Our group is very efficient with the money. 

Everyone is welcome. In the past this was a fun and lively event with interesting people. The weird auction is fun to talk about so it will be a lively time. The venue, the basement of the Berkley American Legion is the perfect spot for us. We can host as many people as want to come and there is always plenty of food.
