Each walk invites you to pause, tune into your senses, and rediscover your connection—with yourself and the world around you. ----- What is Forest Bathing? -Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is a Japanese practice that invites you to fully immerse yourself in nature through all five senses. It’s not about hiking or exercise, but about slowing down and being present among the trees. By mindfully walking through the forest—listening, observing, breathing deeply—you can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and strengthen your immune system through exposure to terpenes, the natural oils produced by trees. ----- What to Expect: Certified Forest Bathing Instructor, Gina Grimm, leads small, intimate groups through various trails within local parks, such as Secor Metropark, Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, Side Cut Metropark, and more. She starts each workshop with 'Beginning Instruction' so that you are able to make the most of your forest bathing experience. She will then lead you on a gentle, quiet walk through nature and invite you to use your senses to connect deeply with your spirit, your body, and the world around you. Each workshop is unique and takes on a life of its own. After all, we are of the nature of change. ----- Special Notes: *Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather, as workshops are held rain or shine. Workshops MAY be cancelled/rescheduled if there is a risk to the safety of participants. You will be notified promptly if any changes are made. You are encouraged to wear sunscreen, bug repellent, moisture wicking clothing, and waterproof shoes. Other items you are encouraged to bring: A bottle of water, a small hand-towel (there will be barefoot grounding exercises), a journal + pen, and a small trail snack. If you wish to bring a yoga mat or small blanket for times where you will be sitting/laying on the ground, that is absolutely fine. Each participant is required to sign a waiver at the beginning of the workshop. Ages 12 and older are welcome. No pets allowed, please. As stated above, we are of the nature of change.
