Taking The Hillside: Guerrilla Planting Day

"Taking the hillside" planting food crops on select locations on hillsides in Berkeley as well as the Student Organic Garden (SOGA) using agroecological principles

Resilient and wild plants are chosen to strengthen our food system by growing in marginal spaces within and outside garden setting, expanding low to zero-input systems. Plants include varieties of Nopales, African Tree Collards, wild Yerba Buena, Miners Lettuce, American Nightshade, and shade tolerant Oregano. Although some are not well known, they are edible greens that once established, require little care and are adapted to our seasonally dry environment
