Please read all the information below.

Course Description:

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking. Students will do hands-on practice of one-person and two-person rescue CPR for adults, children, and infants. At the end of the class, students will take a hands-on skills tests, and a written test. Upon successful completion, this class will award students an American Heart Association BLS certification card valid for 2 years.

The Berkeley Medical Reserve Corps offers high quality, low cost CPR classes to UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff. Because of the importance of immediate care in treating heart attacks and in relieving choking, we believe that large scale instruction of the campus community is vital to improving response to these medical emergencies. Classes are taught by volunteer, certified CPR instructors. This certification is your first step in becoming an EMT, and will also allow you to start volunteering with RockMed at local events.
