Balkan Sundays continue at Ashkenaz on Sunday, April 26th with Dan Cantrell and Friends!

Feauring:
Dan Cantrell on accordion and vocals
Lila Sklar on violin and vocals
Greg Jenkins on saxophone and clarinet
Calvin Lai on clarinet
Max Baloian on guitar
Jesse Hix on double bass
Sean Tergis on drums
and a potential slew of other musical compatriots. 

The ensemble is deeply rooted in Balkan folk, Romany, and Klezmer styles but uses this foundation to offer a new take on these traditions with original compositions in the style, beguiling arrangements and mashups, left turns, and the occasional idiomatic pop cover.  Fear not for your feet though, they will also fire up some sick Balkan grooves and are sure to nestle into all the fun favorites for folk dancing and freylach making.  Get your butt down to the Schnazz with your instrument and/or dancing shows and race us to the bottom of a bottle of Balkan boogie. 

Also, we are very excited to have Elizabeth Strong teaching some dances that go along with the live music, so definitely come early so you don’t miss out!
