Michael Manring has been pushing the boundaries of the fretless bass for over 40 years and is considered one of the great bass players in the history of the instrument. He has played with many, many greats, including Michael Hedges (which led to a long stint as house bassist for Windham Hill Records), Suzanne Ciani, Henry Kaiser, John Gorka, and Thomas Dolby to name a few.  

Tony Kaltenberg is one of the most unique sounding fingerstyle guitarists on the circuit, with mesmerizing percussive, tapping, and fingerstyle techniques. He composes most of the music the trio plays and is celebrated in both the US and Europe.

Jarrod Kaplan is a force of nature on percussion and an irreplaceable part of the band. He has also played with many greats, including Trillian Green, String Cheese Incident, the California Guitar Trio, and served as percussionist for a two-year stint with Cirque du Soleil.

Get ready for a transcendental evening, going places you’ve never gone before. It is indeed an almost acoustic groove experience!

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.

Doors open 30 minutes before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.

The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. The venue is ADA accessible. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-381-1997.

Please refrain from using your phone during performances, and if you use your camera or video, please disable the flash.

Although masks are no longer required, we strongly encourage their use to keep everyone safe in our intimate space.
