Artist Bios:
The Soft Landing Ensemble conducts long-form, improvisatory sound
rituals aimed at finding emergent shapes in silence. For this
iteration, the ensemble includes Emily Pothast and David Golightly,
who perform together as Hair and Space Museum

Matt, co-founder of Cone Shape Top, has been spinning eclectic sets
for over 20 years, from ambient to house and every zone in between.
Never beholden to genre, they relish finding relationships between
varied and often disparate sounds to create shifting and unexpected
moods.

NFS (Not For Sale) is a East Bay raised and based DJ that weaves
together sonic worlds that invoke esoteric and mystic atmospheres
often extracting on more offbeat offerings of (but not limited to)
ambient, obscure club, post punk, noise and avant pop; often with a
penchant for juxtaposing contrasting tempos and rhythms. She is
co-founder of Oakland based underground cultural hub, Cone Shape Top
and the club night, EGG! at Thee Stork Club.

Matt Sussman (Chillits): Matt's love of psychedelic and left field
music of all stripes had led him to DJ and program music at campouts
and other underground gatherings across California and beyond.
Previously, Matt was one third of the crew who put on Other Stranger,
a semimonthly night of mutant electronics at The Stud (RIP).

This event is part of the Alembic's 3RD EAR series. 3RD EAR is a new
series of music and sound events and discussions held at the Berkeley
Alembic. Curated by Erik Davis and Sam Plattner, 3RD EAR will explore
ambient soundscapes, field recordings, experimental electronica,
sacred noise, cosmic drones, sonic manipulations, and Old World
improvisations. Hearing is a thing that just happens, but listening is
a practice: a way of exploring and meditating on sensation, mind, and
the vibratory cosmos around us.
