2019 GBACG Workshop Series: Spats!
Make a custom pair of spats for our Jolly Holiday Picnic and other costumed sporting events! Students will learn to construct and fit a pair of spats, flat lining, button sewing, and use of machine made buttonholes.
About your instructor:
Liz has been sewing since Jr. High School. However, it took being able to drink a beer at the pub for her to relax and enjoy it! She is the recipient of multiple awards (Shellies, Arties) for her work in Bay Area theater. She has been the Costume Director for The Great Dickens Fair since 2007.
Instructor provides:patterns and examples
Students should bring: - 1 yard med - heavyweight fabric (more if you are matching plaids or a design) - 1 yd canvas or twill (lining)- sewing machine with buttonhole attachment - 12 1/2 - 3/4" shank buttons - 18" of 1" wide black elastic
Practicalities:There will be a lunch break during this class. You may bring your lunch or there are several fast food options nearby.
Tickets to GBACG activities ARE NOT REFUNDABLE, but are transferable. Purchasing tickets to a GBACG activity is the same as buying tickets to the Symphony, Ballet, or Theatre. If you have purchased tickets to a GBACG activity and are unable to attend, you may sell your tickets to someone else, but GBACG does not make refunds.
