# Event Details - **Event Name**: Music therapy in the integration of psychedelic experiences? w/Music Therapist Løv Maya - **Event Start and End Date**: Mon, 20 Apr, 2026 at 05:00 pm (+02:00) - **Event Description**: How does some musical experiences gather us on different levels, while others expand us in different ways? There is a lot of knowledge about how to use music *during* the psychedelic experience, but how might certain musical experiences be used *after* the trip, in the psychedelic integration phase? During this presentation, you will learn about the potential for implementing music therapy in psychedelic integration, which was the research topic of Løv’s master thesis in music therapy. This has, to her knowledge, not been researched systematically before. For her thesis, she interviewed psychedelic therapists and music therapists, and consulted the existing literature, as well as the shamanic/indigenous traditions where the ingestion of psychedelic medicine combined with music is already an integrated part of their societies. As both musical and psychedelic experiences tend to become increasingly concealed the more we try to explain them, this presentation will include an attempt to unify the practical and experiential qualities of certain musical activities with the theoretical knowledge about how musical experiences might aid in psychedelic integration on different levels. * * * Løv finished her master’s degree in music therapy at the University of Bergen the winter of 2025. She has lifelong experience as a musician, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, where she values the child-like quality of play equally to the aspects of shadow work which music can afford. Currently, she is working as a music therapist while studying the old shamanic traditions, as well as Chinese Qigong and Taiji (Tai Chi). * * * We in SFPV warmly welcome you to join us for this unique presentation at Det Akademiske Kvarter, in the third floor in the room called Stillhet.
