Visual Storytelling with Ceci Norman

Join artist Ceci Norman for a workshop on visual storytelling. This playful hands-on workshop will lead you in an exploration of how we use visuals to tell stories.

There will be an opportunity to create a collage, a one-page zine, or stop motion animation (with your phone!). By playing with images, you can supplement your written story, give you a practice to work through an idea if you're feeling stuck, and play with how images can help us express mood, concepts, and characters.

Supplies included: magazines, markers, glue sticks, construction paper.

Ceci Norman is an artist and educator focused on play, image making, wellness and storytelling. She has a MA in Arts Leadership and a certificate in Art in Health from the University of Houston. Her work has included being an Artist in Resident for Houston Methodist Hospital, animation and photo residencies at Texas Children’s Hospital, contemplative photography at Houston Methodist, and worked as a teaching artist with Aurora Picture Show, Fotofest, Houston Center for Photography, Culture of Health Advancing Together (CHAT). She has been involved in the intersection of food, culture and art with Alief Art House, Finca Tres Robles and the Tequila Interchange Project. Her practice is nature based, and takes inspiration from radical hospitality. She relocated from Houston to Northwest Arkansas in 2023 to connect with her roots and swim in creeks and lakes.
