- **Event Description**: Our July mushroom walk will be held Saturday, July 18, at 1 PM at the Elk Country Visitors Center in Benezette, PA. We'll begin in the ECCO Building with an educational presentation by club member John Traister on foraging mushrooms, covering the common types of edible and non-edible fungi found in central PA and how they grow. 

After the presentation, we will go for a mushroom walk around the center's grounds. Come early to hear the talk and have a chance to visit with club members. Please bring a basket or a cloth bag to collect mushrooms on the walk.

Note: This meeting is free and open to the public and is being held jointly with the Elk Country Visitors Center. Registration is not required.

What to expect: Generally, there is a brief overview of the kinds of mushrooms that may be seasonally available. Other relevant or important club updates may also be covered. Depending on the number of people in attendance, we will divide into groups to forage for mushrooms. Typically, the walks last 1-2 hours. As people return, mushroom finds are placed and displayed on the tables at the pavilion we'll meet at, and then a time of identification occurs. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during this period.

New members are welcome and can sign up at the meeting. We'll have applications on hand. Dues are $20 annually and can be paid via cash or check. Send us a message if you have any questions!
