- **Event Description**: Learn the basics of the wood lathe, one of the most popular tools in the wood shop. In this class students will create an object from beginning to end which involves mounting a wood blank to the lathe, rounding, shaping, sanding, and finishing. Objects that are made in this class are selected by the instructor and may include, bottle openers, bud vases, candlestick holders or other objects that can be used around the home, given as fun hand made gifts, or stand alone as pieces of art. The class teaches in detail operation of the lathe and how to safely use two shaping tools: the spindle roughing gouge and carbide tip scrapers.

Upon successful completion of this class you will receive your DIYCave certification on the lathe and can independently start creating objects on your own. One three-hour class session.

All materials and tools included.

Ages 13+ welcome. Minors may take this class if a parent/guardian is registered and attends the class with them.
