A day of connection through rhythm in the woods. Mostly West African inspired drumming but some rhythm games, a chance for a bit of improvisation, a song or two and a special treat, storytelling from the fabulous Rachel Murry.
Based in the youth hostel in Shining Cliff Woods, how much we're 'out' will be weather dependent, but in or out, it's a beautiful space.
Bring your own lunch, or food to share. We'll provide bread (and probably cake) so if you want to be part of a communal meal bring something to go with that. Hot drinks included but if you have a special preference bring that too. Lunctime also allows space to be in the amazing woodland of Shining Cliff. We have a long lunch break to facilitate this. Rachel will lead a walk, weather dependant, or just explore by yourself.
Price - £40, earlybird (if booked and paid for by Nov 17th), £48 after that. There are some concessionary places so get in touch if you really want to come but are struggling with finances.
If you want to give yourself an extra special treat you can book a bed in the hostel the night after for an extra £25. (Contact them directly to do this)I'll be staying over, it's a wonderful place!
Open to all levels of rhythmical ability, including complete beginners. All women and non-binary people welcome. Not suitable for children, anyone over 15 welcome. Numbers will be limited to 12 (plus us we'll be 14)
Please note, parking is a half mile from the hostel so you have to walk in. If you have any mobility issues it isn't suitable for you, sorry. There are wheelbarrows available for your gear and I'll be providing drums and percussion. Part of the wonder of this event is the 'being in the woods' bit, away from the everyday, and the 10 minute walk from the 'secret' car park is part of that.
We encourage car sharing if possible as parking spaces are limited.
