Join us at The Rogue Bookshop for an unforgettable evening with writer, scholar, and storyteller Danielle Bainbridge, celebrating her powerful new book Dandelion: A Memoir in Essays.
Bainbridge—Assistant Professor of Theatre, Black Studies, and Performance Studies at Northwestern University—is a dynamic voice whose work spans scholarship, media, and performance. Her forthcoming academic book, Currencies of Cruelty, will be published by NYU Press in 2026, and her creative work has earned support from Tin House, the Adirondack Center for Writing, and the Banff Centre. Her web series and media projects have garnered three Daytime Emmy nominations and an NAACP Image Award nomination. She currently lives (and loves!) in Chicago with her partner and two mischievous cats.
In Dandelion, Bainbridge offers a raw, intimate exploration of race, gender, queerness, and mental health through essays, poetry, and lyrical fragments that move fluidly across time. With honesty and grace, she traces the tensions between societal expectations and selfhood, chronic illness and resilience, and the many forms of beauty and ache that shape a life. This memoir invites readers into a kaleidoscopic emotional landscape—bold, tender, and deeply human.
Join us for a reading, conversation, and signing with an author whose work challenges, heals, and illuminates. We’re honored to welcome Danielle Bainbridge to The Rogue Bookshop.
Event starts at 6pm!
