Don't know how to do-si-do or allemande left? No problem! No experience or partner necessary. All dances will be taught by caller Devin Champlin, and a live band Sparklebrite Dance Band—featuring Seattle fiddler extraordinaire Kate Lichtenstein—will be providing old-time music for your dancing pleasure.

~What should I bring?~
A dish to share. If you can, bring a label with ingredients for people with dietary restrictions. No time to cook something? No problem! Come enjoy a delicious potluck meal anyhow 🙂

~What time is all this happening?~
6–7 p.m. Eat and talk and make friends!
7–9:30 p.m. Dance and laugh and cry tears of joy!
9:30–10 p.m. Help clean up if you can!

~Can I bring alcohol?~
No, but non-alcoholic beverages are welcome.

~Does it cost money?~
A $12–15 donation would be much appreciated. $8 for students. All money goes to paying the band and callers and supporting more community square dances.

This dance is the third in a spring square dance series I'm organizing in collaboration with the Bellingham Country Dance Society. Every third Saturday through May. For more dates, visit https://bellinghamcountrydance.org/calendar/.

~About the band~
Sparklebrite Dance Band is a never-before-heard PNW old-time quartet featuring Kate Lichtenstein on fiddle, Matt Sircely on bass, Stuart Illson on banjo, and Andy Rick on guitar.

~About the caller~
Devin Champlin is a Bellingham-based musician and artist who makes up songs for singing with his band, likes to play old fiddle music on a variety of instruments, and can occasionally be found calling at square dances. He first learned to call by playing in the band at many-a-dance and eventually absorbed enough of the moves and patter to be able to call a few dances on his own. He likes to keep things light and fun while still honoring tradition and the legacy of his mentors.
