Afi James:
Rasta bush man, multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter and producer. Based in the hills of Gumbaynggirr country, his music reflects the life he lives. Fun, raw, soulful and fiery. A rich blend of roots, reggae, dub, hip-hop and jazz.
Using a loop station, guitars, didgeridoo, samples and drums, Afi creates multi-layered sound journeys and rhythmic beats for his poetic chants and melodies to ride on. Afi’s unique style was born out of street performing while hitchhiking around Australia, he plays with an intense passion and purpose but with a lightheartedness that creates a good vibration and warms the
spirit.
Over the last decade Afi has developed from an acoustic singer songwriter to a multi-instrumental dynamic performer. His musical momentum is only gathering after releasing a self produced album
“Green Room” in 2022 and sharing festival stages with the likes of Xavier Rudd, Lime Cordial and OKA.
Strictly for the art of expression and the love of music, Afi is sure to move an audience whether it's by the groove, raw emotion or just the infectious joy he brings on stage.
