We are delighted to invite you to the Sawubona Festival, a vibrant celebration of African and African American cultures through music, dance, and the arts. Hosted by VCBynum Arts & Education, AARTH, and the Umoja Scholars, this exciting event is FREE and open to the public. It will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Bellevue College.
“Sawubona” is a Zulu phrase meaning “I see you,” emphasizing the importance of recognizing each other’s humanity. The goal of the Sawubona Festival is to bring artists, performers, and community together on the Eastside to honor and share the diversity and richness of African heritage.
Join us as we celebrate and share the depth and beauty of the traditions and culture of the African continent through music, dance, spoken word, and other art forms.
