Project Linus – Omaha Chapter: Overview
Project Linus is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing handmade blankets to children in need, offering comfort, warmth, and a sense of security during difficult times. These blankets are given to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise facing challenges such as hospitalization, foster care placement, or family crisis.
The Omaha Project Linus chapter serves children throughout the greater Omaha area and surrounding communities. It is volunteer-driven and relies on generous donations of time, materials, and completed blankets from the community.
What Is Make a Blanket Day?
Make a Blanket Day is a special volunteer event where individuals, families, schools, churches, and community groups come together to create blankets in one shared space. The goal is to make as many child-friendly blankets as possible in a fun, welcoming environment.
What typically happens:
• Volunteers bring supplies (or use provided materials)
• Blankets are made on-site (often fleece tie blankets, quilts, or knit/crocheted blankets)
• No experience is required—many tasks are beginner-friendly
