# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Songwriters Orbit - Stephen Bruce Medd
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 30 Nov, 2025 at 01:00 pm
- **Event Description**: The Songwriters Orbit show at Belleville’s UpFront Café features special guest songwriters, Sam Wood and Steven Tanner! MC is Peter Smits, the host of Cogeco’s Quinte Songwriters TV show. All welcome.

SAM WOOD is an Ottawa-based singer-songwriter known for his emotionally charged performances and distinctive alternative edge. Blending heartfelt vocals with technical guitar work, he has captivated audiences from stages all across Ontario. His recent single "Big Family" highlights his talent for crafting intimate, acoustic-driven folk music that resonates deeply with listeners. With more releases on the horizon for 2026, Sam Wood is steadily carving out his own little spot in the Canadian music scene.

STEVEN TANNER began his journey into song writing later than most, only really getting into guitar playing in his 38th year.

He has shared his interpretations of others' songs in cafes, markets, community theatres, museums, pubs and porches. His love of blues music has been hi-lighted by being included in Kingston's Home Grown Music festival in the blues genre the past 3 years. He has only started his journey into song writing and story telling in very recent years. His motivation and influences in music are not drawn from the Dylans and Lennons but from the Medds and Woods of the world. Real people telling real stories that He can relate to.

STEPHEN BRUCE MEDD (Host) is a performing songwriter of historical ballads and spiritual songs. These songs are inspired by Canadian history; the remote and beautiful landscapes he explored as a geologist; and environmental and social issues of the day. Stephen’s most recent project entitled, "If Lilacs Could Sing" is a book of ballads and accompanying recordings about fascinating historical moments and people of Upper Canada and Colonial America. In 1999-2000 Stephen recorded 3 Spiritual-Folk songs that he wrote for Avril Lavigne that were her first studio recordings before being discovered by the music industry. Some of his influences include Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, Pete Seeger, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Mac Beattie and Celtic Music.
