Dani Katalonskog Filma is now entering its 5th edition and, for such a special occasion, we have decided to speak about our land, our landscapes, our poetry, our characters, the altruism of our society, one of our distinctive traits and, of course, our history. And we do so through the creativity, vision and work of our film professionals. Catalan cinema is in very good health and, year after year, we can see its fruits, its achievements and, above all, enjoy them. Year after year, we see international festivals recognising, awarding and screening an ever-growing number of Catalan productions. And Serbia is no exception. This fifth edition is therefore another opportunity to bring a part of Catalonia closer to Serbian audiences through our cinema: a land, a culture, a history and a range of perspectives that continue to create, imagine and tell our story. U leto 1994. godine ekipa televizijskih novinara snimala je i intervjuisala sedmoro Kubanaca i njihove porodice tokom dana koji su prethodili njihovoj rizičnoj odluci da se otisnu na more u pokušaju da stignu do obala Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, bežeći od ekonomskih teškoća koje su pogađale njihovu zemlju. Nešto kasnije uspeli su da pronađu one koji su spaseni na otvorenom moru, u izbegličkom kampu pri američkoj bazi u Gvantanamu. In the summer of 1994, a television news crew filmed and interviewed seven Cubans and their families in the days leading up to their risky decision to take to the sea in an attempt to reach the shores of the United States, fleeing the economic hardships ravaging their country. Some time later, they managed to locate those who had been rescued at sea in the refugee camp at the U.S. base in Guantánamo. Their families remained in Cuba without any news of them, except in the case of one of the protagonists, a woman who had been shipwrecked and forced to return to the island. Seven years have passed. The lives of the protagonists, their destinies, and their experiences in the United States or their decision to remain in Cuba are portrayed in detail and with sensitivity. Extensive research and investigation have gone into the screenplay of Canigó 1883. The result is a fascinating journey of discovery transformed into a fiction film based on real events, faithful to the historical circumstances, landscapes and context. In this way, Canigó 1883 will reveal what the Pyrenees and their people were like at the end of the 19th century, just before the profound transformations that would forever change the character of its inhabitants. Aerial footage is a key element of the project, with the aim of conveying the magnificence of the Pyrenees described by Verdaguer. CATALÀ Canigó 1883 pretén ser un còctel biogràfic entre les cròniques pirinenques d’un aventurer i el relat més íntim d’un poeta, sovint amagat entre els versos d’un poema. Un important treball d’investigació i recerca ha determinat l’elaboració del guió de Canigó 1883. El resultat és un apassionant viatge d’investigació convertit en un film de ficció basat en fets reals, fidel als esdeveniments, als paisatges i al context. D’aquesta manera, Canigó 1883 mostrarà com era aquell Pirineu de finals del segle XIX i la seva gent, just abans de les importants transformacions que canviarien per sempre el tarannà dels seus habitants.
