Sur Samvad - Belgaum

Sur Samvad is coming to Belgaum for the 2nd consecutive year. Murkumbi Itihas Upakram and KLS Gogte Institute of Technology are partnering to present this unique Classical Music Concert presenting young artists as well as maestros. This concert is supported by Banyan Tree Events.

Sur Samvad celebrates the cultural legacy of Belgaum - a city known for its rich cultural history – the site from where many important stalwarts from the world of Indian Classical Music emerged. Being a seat of Hindustani Classical Music in Southern India, Belgaum and the Hubli-Dharwad belt has produced legends such as Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur, Dr. Gangubai Hangal and many more. This region still continues to contribute immensely to Hindustani Classical Music by developing many eminent artists and Gurus.

Sur Samvad is another such initiative which was started last year to commemorate the birth centenary of Pt. Kumar Gandharva. This year too, this initiative intends to celebrate the teeming cultural heritage of Belgaum and its musical legends.
