Deuteronomy chapter 22, verse 5 states "A woman must not wear a man's clothing, nor is a man to put on a woman's clothing. For all that do so are abominations to the Lord your God".
With such a bible verse, appearing to call transgender people "abominations", Trans Pride NI will be holding a discussion on this topic, as part of its Festival, because transgender people continue to be discriminated against in Northern Ireland and need their voices to be heard on the issue of religion. #transprideni2019
EVERYONE is welcome to attend this FREE event, with FREE refreshments, please tell us that you are coming by getting a FREE Eventbrite ticket to this event. The event has confirmed speakers from a liberal Christian, the Humanist Association of Northern Ireland and the Humanitarian Charity Can with Candle. The event will be taking place in the Minor hall Of First Presbyterian Church, Rosemary Street.
Transgender people and non-binary people still do not have the same rights as other people in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland, they can suffer from prejudice, violence and intolerance, some of which may be down to just one bible verse.
