Formed in 1982, they quickly built a reputation for melodic yet powerful songwriting, leading to major releases and international touring. The band were signed to EMI Records, and later Atlantic Records, releasing a series of well-received albums throughout the 1980s.During their original run, Silent Running supported a number of major international acts including Simple Minds, Robert Palmer, The Alarm, Talk Talk, and Stevie Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.After reforming in 2019, the band have enjoyed renewed success with live shows and acclaimed new recordings, including the albums Follow the Light and current album .In recent years Silent Running have brought their dynamic live sound to large audiences across Belfast and beyond.
