Gerry McAvoy was Rory Gallagher's longtime bassist and musical companion, playing alongside the legend for an 20 incredible years, from the early 70s through to 1991.

Gerry put Band of Friends together in 2012, playing a mixture of their own material with Rory Gallagher songs. 
Stalwarts of the annual Ballyshannon Rory Gallagher festival, BOF continue to play across Europe and the world every year, led by Gerry McAvoy.

Joining the current line-up are:
Guitarist Brian Tambling - growing up in Cork, Brian fell in love with the blues at an early age discovering all the classic guitarists of the 60’s and 70’s - Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher.
Guitarist Andy Taylor - from Orkney Island. Finding Muddy Waters early in his career, he then discovered all the greats of the 60’s and 70’s.
Drummer Brendan O'Neill has been the big beat man since 2019. Brendan played with Rory from 1981-1991 and is credited on several studio and live albums and recordings.
