Education: We All Have a Role to Play

This event aims to encourage dialogue on themes and topics relevant to education in Northern Ireland. It will also identify how participants envisage education in our society moving forward and discuss what role individuals, local communities and organisations can play.

The event will be of interest to community organisations and representatives, good relations/community development organisations and networks, parents, schools, youth workers as well as academics with a particular interest in educational issues.

The first part of the event will focus on research regarding young people's attitudes to education and community relations. This will be followed by a session on some of the challenges facing education in our society, including young people's mental health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion as well as dealing with difficult issues in our schools. We will also look at the role that parents and local communities can play in shaping education for the future and participants will be introduced to a toolkit which can help create inclusive dialogue within communities on local issues such as education.

Chair: Peter Osborne (Community Relations Council)
