Yoga Synergy: Yoga For The Modern Body

The Yoga Synergy method is a unique style of yoga developed by the experienced australian yogi and physioterapist Simon Borg Olivier with the aim of providing the yoga practitioners with a safe and effective practice.

The Yoga Synergy practice is based on the integration of a deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology, modern medical science and traditional hatha yoga.
Synergy style incorporates to the traditional sequence of postures of the Hatha Yoga method a very effective spinal sequencing flow technique, a sequence of postures done in a form of a dynamic flow which involves moving the trunk into its eight main pure position. The spinal movements help to restore original and natural movements of the human body which have replaced by innatural movements created by the habits of western modern way of life.

Yoga Synergy is a practice that is safe regardless of how fit you are. It is also a strong challenge for people used to a regular physical practice such as professional dancers, elite athletes and advanced yoga practitioners. Synergy is one of the most effective and accessible practice for anyone and can give tremendous release of back and other pain, as well as significantly increasing energy levels, improving functional core strenght, and reducing stress. The Spinal movements sequence help to restore connection within mind and body and constitute a precious tool to improve yoga practice or other fitness ativities performance, it helps prevent lesions, and balance your emotional response to stressful situation.

About the teacher:

From my youngest age I had been attracted by movement as a powerful tool of self expression and realization. I started studying dance and choreography at the the age of five. After finishing my studies at the conservatory of dance, my curiosity for a more organic and autentic way of moving brought me to experiment other methods of body expression like Body Weather, Dance Movement Therapy, Body Mind Centering, Butoh. Working with experimental choreographers like Maria Fux , Elena Cerruto, Andres Corchero, Rosa Munoz and Hisako Horikawa enriched my background of many meaningful insights.
Yoga came into my life by chance, 13 years ago. From the very beginning I realized that there was much more there to discover. After many years of intense study and practice, it appears to me that Yoga is the conceptual synthesis of many aspects I had been taking into account into my investigation about movement. I have been practicing different styles of yoga, but I specialized in Hatha vinyasa and Synergy. In my classes the practice of the traditional style of hatha yoga is combined with a deep exploration of movement and its phisyological response on the body. On a phisical level the practice I offer encourages the circulation of energy and consciousness troughout the body.
