Mount Hermon (Jabal El Sheikh) With Lebanese Outdoor Adventures

Dear Lebanese Outdoor Adventurers (LOA)

Join us this Sunday for a challenging hike in Mount Hermon.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: Jabal El Sheikh meaning “breastplate” is the name that the Phoenicians gave to Mount Hermon, and it's also called the “gray-haired mountain”, or the “mountain of snow”. Mount Hermon is a cluster of mountains with three distinct summits, the same height each.

It is the highest peak of the Anti-Lebanon range, the second highest peak in the Near East and in Lebanon located at an altitude of 2814 m above sea level. It deserves the effort we do to reach the top because it offers a breathtaking panoramic view and wide landscapes. It is a must-do, provided you are fit enough, given the trail length and elevation gain. We will start our hike from Rashaya and the route follows an exposed dirt road above the tree-line, where there will be little shade from the sun. We will return the same way and end our expedition back at Rashaya El Wadi.

Standing on the foothills of Mount Hermon, Rachaya el Wadi is distinguished for its old red-tile-roofed stone houses that have survived the most difficult and relevant phases of the Lebanese history. This expedition will include multiple short breaks to enjoy nature and the scenery.

P.S. Lebanese hikers must register 3 days in advance. Names must be submitted to the army for approval. (Full name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth). Non Lebanese 4 days in advance.

A pick- up (truck) will follow us all the way throughout the expedition for those who need support. Last
