Art of Adjustment Course
Ever left confused how to adjust a pose in your yoga class? or gone in to adjust a student and left them a bit more confused?
This unique hands-on workshop is designed for new and experienced teachers to increase mastery of yoga adjustments and alignments. Knowledge of asana adjustments is beneficial for improving your personal practice and is a fundamental part of being an exceptional yoga teacher.
In the Yoga Adjustments Workshop, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the purpose and use of hands-on adjustments for yoga postures. Hands-on adjustments and assists can be a very powerful tool for yoga teachers. When done well, hands-on adjustments are an opportunity to retrain patterns or ways of moving that we see in our yoga students. You will understand the big picture of why, when, and how to apply hands-on adjustments, while learning skills that can be applied to all styles of yoga asana practice.
The intention in the Yoga Adjustments Workshop is that you understand how to take those concepts and apply them to the unique situations that come up in your own classes. You’ll practice the foundational concepts behind every good hands-on adjustment on many different types of postures. This workshop will help you understand how to adapt hands-on adjustments to “real-world” bodies, including: differences in height, flexibility, strength, and level of practice.
OUTLINE OF MATERIAL COVERED
• Why we perform asana adjustments.
• What makes a good adjustment.
• Learning the dynamics of each asana.
• How to adjust the bodies of others.
• Learning to read the body to effectively determine which adjustment is appropriate for which body.
• Learning to see the adjustment in the body prior to performing the adjustment.
• Learning to use a variety of tools to maximize your adjustment ability.
• Playing with the balance between the student working and you working
• Learning to use the variety of tools that you have available: your body, student’s body, verbal cues, breathing, etc.
Art of Adjustment Workshop is for two consecutive days, 4.5 hours a day workshop, available to join at any day of the week.
More about the teacher:
Layal began practicing yoga in 2008 as a way to integrate a healthy balance of movement and stillness. Now she is an ERYT with more than 1200 hrs of training in hatha yoga, Ashtanga yoga and therapy. Prior to teaching yoga, Layal spent 13 years working in corporates. Her experience as a professional influences the way she approaches teaching. She offers precise instructions and creates an organized learning platform for her students. Whether standing on two feet, two hands, or all of the above, Layal finds a sense of grounding in both her practice and her teaching. She offers students an opportunity to find their edge, settle into their body and breath.
By the end of the course participants will receive a certificate of attendance (9hrs).
Fees: 150$, downpayment of 50$ before 11 is required to reserve your place.
