"Performance poetry, a thorough look at our presence, voice and amplification. The workshop will be a depiction of performance on stage, varying from annunciation, projection, acting, and breathing exercises with and without live musicians. The presence of a poet or performer varies according to the audience, application of form, and its intent. A performer, whether it be a poet, musician or any other artist must embody the content of their piece. Forms take on tangibility via the body and voice, controlling one’s emotions to embody the gestures, using the body to encompass the magnitude of the words/content. A performance must be a projection of the emotion originally intended and/or felt/portrayed, therefore a performer must be the vessel through which the poets message is made palpable."
