Our July program will focus on Environmental Wellness through a hands-on Rain Barrel Workshop. Participants will learn about water conservation, stormwater management, water quality, and practical ways to reduce reliance on municipal water supplies while creating more resilient homes and communities. Workshop participants who register for a barrel-building spot will construct and take home a completed 55-gallon rain barrel made from a repurposed food-grade container. We will also demonstrate larger 275-gallon rainwater collection systems that will be installed at community gardens and nonprofit partner sites throughout our region. Whether you are a gardener, homeowner, educator, sustainability enthusiast, or simply curious about reducing your environmental footprint, this workshop offers practical skills and knowledge that can be put to use immediately. --- Event Details for July 18th --- -Wellness Activity: Rain Barrel Workshop and Water Conservation Education -Date: Saturday, July 18, 2026 -Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM -Location: Claytor Nature Center Pavilion, Bedford, VA -Registration Options: • Rain Barrel Builder Registration (limited to the first 20 registrants) – Includes materials and a completed 55-gallon rain barrel to take home. • Educational Participant Registration – Attend the workshop and learn about rainwater harvesting and water conservation even if barrel-building spots are full. • Community Partner Registration – Available for organizations participating in the installation and stewardship of larger 275-gallon demonstration systems. -The Pierce Street Gateway will continue to serve as a ride-share hub from the Lynchburg area for the Wellness in Nature Series, helping make these programs accessible to a broader community.
