This two hour pregnancy workshop is for parents-to-be and it offers an introduction to mindfulness meditation and one important aspect of childbirth preparation related to pain and fear. Mindfulness can make us calmer and more centred, and improve our physical and emotional wellbeing.
We discuss the physiology of pain and fear, and how learning to uncouple the complex component of pain actually decrease perceived pain. This is not a new concept; it just needs to be practiced.
We learn that by being totally ‘present‘during childbirth we actually enhance the birth experience (it sounds crazy, but it’s true).
This workshop offers an introduction to what is covered in the longer Mindful Birthing Course (6 sessions) and how skills learned can optimise the physiology of labour, birth and parenting.
