You'll be taught by Justine Aldersey-Williams #WomanGrowsJeans who made fashion history by producing the UK's first pair of homegrown jeans, along with specialist guest teachers (see poster below) sharing how to:-

* grow flax and woad (indigo)
* rett, break, scutch and hackle flax stooks into fibre
* extract indigo pigment from woad leaves
* dye fabric with fresh woad leaves
* create an indigo reduction vat to dye your fibre
* spin flax fibre into linen yarn using a drop spindle
* weave a small patch of cloth using everyday equipment
* mend your jeans with it!

Along the way you'll learn more about agroeoclogical growing principles by immersing yourself in the beauty of a pioneering permaculture farm. There'll be opportunities to prepare and tend a new textile plot, plus simply enjoying the land.
