# Event Details - **Event Name**: Planning Team 2nd Annual LGBTQ Berkshire Pride Art Exhibit (Video Chat) - **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 22 Jan, 2026 at 06:30 pm – Thu, 22 Jan, 2026 at 08:00 pm - **Event Description**: Join team planning 2nd Annual Pride Art Exhibit (6/11-7/5) & promoting any local exhibits & performances by queer artistsAbout this EventWE’RE HIRING & LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN A TEAM TO PROMOTE PERFORMANCES & EXHIBITS BY LOCAL QUEER ARTISTS & TO BUILD A STRONGER & MORE VISIBLE LOCAL QUEER ARTS COMMUNITY IN THESE TIMES WHEN SOME ARE TRYING TO DEFUND, SILENCE, & EVEN ERASE FROM HISTORY QUEER ARTISTS AND ART Q-MoB recently received 2 new grants from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation to:  Promote exhibits & performances by local LGBTQ artists throughout the yearProduce the 2nd Annual Berkshire LGBTQ+ Pride Art Exhibit @ Becket Arts Center (6/11-7/5/26)Celebrate the power of queer artists to inspire, challenge, & re-awaken our community by strengthening the community that supports & encourages them in ways they want & need, including buying their work & paying for their performances, and helping them find paths to success & abundance.  We request your help in any or all of these 4 simple ways to help make this project capable of powerfully celebrating contemporary local queer artists so their voices can be better heard both individually, and as a collective stand we take to tell the world our lives and or art matter and are essential to the tapestry that makes the Berkshires one of the most inspiring creative capitals in the world::  This Thursday, 1/22, 6:30-8pm, join the Planning Team for the 2nd Annual LGBTQ+ Pride Art Exhibit @ Becket Arts Center (6/11-7/5/26) to help us recruit as diverse a group of LGBTQ+ Artists to submit work to be in the exhibit by 3/1, and to help us promote the importance of the exhibit in these dangerous, repressive times.  If you can’t join the planning team this Thursday, please if you’d like to learn more about how you could help the planning team in simple ways like reaching out to newer or well-establishedLGBTQ artists to encourage them to submit work, distributing or addressing & mailing exhibit post cards,creating social media videos, sharing flyers on social media, helping with press releases, Helping local artists to create 90 second short social media videos about their work and why people should see itHelping to organize & film the 6/21 Artist’s Panel where local artists will tell stories about the development of their work, who has encouraged or inspired them, whether and how their queerness affects or does not influence their workWE’RE HIRING:  Please SEND US A NOTE to nominate people who have a passion for promoting queer artists and a local queer arts community and who can work part-time (only about $400/month) to support our volunteer Pride Art Exhibit Planning Team, our volunteer Berkshire Queer Art & Artists Promotion Team, and our fundraising efforts to raise money from foundations, businesses, local cultural councils, queer arts patrons, & monthly arts activity donors to sustainably fund our on-going project to promote local queer artists and the local queer art-loving community. It also raises money to finance the on-going promotion of queer artists who perform or exhibit in our region and to build the community of art-lovers who want to support them. OR A because we must match dollar for dollar from ordinary people like you the $11,000 in grants we've received to fund this project. If you give $25/month (less than most of us spend on coffee or junk food) you help us match $300 in grant funds for the year. If you give $1000 that gets us much closer to demonstrating that our community cares enough about supporting local queer artists that we will put our money where our words are. Our grants want the community of lovers of queer artists to demonstrate that we will sustainably promote their works without depending on grants to sustain such important work.NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE OUR STAND FOR OUR LOCAL QUEER ARTISTS & VISITING QUEER ARTISTS: we ask your assistance in any ways you can to help us take a stand for our local LGBTQ+ artists and to make this project an act of creation worthy of the historic queer artists who made the Berkshires a world-renowned center for more than 100 years of beautiful and provocative art made by queer artists like Alvin Ailey, Aaron Copeland, Leonard Bernstein, Bill T. Jones, Wallace Shawn, Lorena Hickok, Harriet Hosmer, Eva Le Gallienne, Jake Blount, and many, many others.
