Speaker bio:
Jill A. Neuendorf is a Beaver Dam High School graduate and an Associate Teaching Professor at Georgetown University. She holds a PhD from Bryn Mawr College in second language acquisition and Russian, along with three MAs in related fields and a BA in German and humanistic studies from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Before her current role, she taught Russian language and culture at various colleges and has extensive experience living and teaching in Russia and other post-Soviet countries. Jill has pursued further language studies across several countries and is involved in testing and assessment for American learners of Russian. She enjoys providing English subtitles for Russian films and won first place at the International Film Translation Contest “Babylon V” in 2022. Her research interests focus on identity, second language acquisition, and the experiences of Russian heritage speakers.
