Join the Beaufort High Class of 2011 as we honor our classmate, the late Dr. Deja M. Jackson!
Jackson was an exceptional student-athlete who excelled in basketball, volleyball, and track and field during her time at Beaufort High. She was a Top 10 graduate of our class.
While at South Carolina State University, she was a multi-sport athlete, joining the track and field, bowling and basketball teams. In 2015, Jackson graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from SC State.
Jackson enrolled in the master’s and PhD programs at the University of Florida, where she was awarded the prestigious UF Graduate School Fellowship and the state of Florida’s McKnight Doctoral Fellowship. In 2019, Jackson earned her doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Florida at the age of 25.
Jackson held membership in several organizations, including SC State Honors College, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participants, American Society of Civil Engineers and National Society of Black Engineers.
She was the deputy director of traffic and engineering for Beaufort County when she passed away in August 2020.
