- **Event Description**: The members of the Montreal Amateur Radio Club and the West Island Amateur Radio clubs joined forces in the long-standing tradition of cooperation between both clubs, participating in the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) Amateur Radio Field Day exercises held June 27 – 28, 2026 at Centennial Park in Beaconsfield.

Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science, service and emergency preparedness of Amateur Radio. 

This free event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

We will have 2 HF (High Frequency) stations running, and we will need seasoned licensed operators to help us keep continuous operations at those stations.

For newly licensed or just plain curious, come visit the G.O.T.A tent, otherwise known as the Get On The Air tent. We will have coaches available to guide you in making an HF (High Frequency - Long Distance) radio contact. We invite all age groups to participate, including youth. 

Additionally, we will have a station running contacts via satellite. How many satellites pass over us during the weekend, and can we make a contact in the short time they are passing overhead. They are in constant motion.

For those with a competitive spirit, Field Day stations compete to make radio contacts with as many other stations as possible while learning to operate radio equipment in challenging situations and less-than-optimal conditions. These same skills are used by hams who volunteer to help with large, preplanned, non-emergency events.

Amateur radio also inspires the next generation of technical leaders by providing a hands-on sandbox where students gain experience in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
