A seventh-generation multicultural Louisiana Creole, Simien fuses infectious rhythms, soulful vocals, and deep cultural storytelling into shows that move audiences across generations and borders.

Leading a dynamic intergenerational band of veteran masters and rising Gen Z musicians, Simien delivers a live experience that honors tradition while pushing the music forward—making every performance both a celebration and a cultural statement.

Simien has music placed in TV shows and product advertisements as well as multiple theatrically released films including a classic animated Disney film “The Princess & The Frog” that introduced millions, many for the first time, to zydeco music. Simien also has music on the new Disney ride based on the film “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” that opened at both US theme parks in 2024.

He’s shared studio, stage and tours with Los Lobos, Art Neville, the meters, Robert Palmer, Dave Matthews Band, Dr. John, Marcia Ball, David Hidalgo, Randy Newman and Stevie Wonder even joined him on stage once to play harmonica.

In more than four decades, Simien has given over 8,500 performances in 45 countries. He also offers a student, youth and family program, Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco, that has reached 250,000 K-12 students, helping raise their cultural IQ while having fun!

The Zydeco Experience Band: Danny Williams, keyboards, vocals; Stan Chambers, bass guitar, vocals; Ian Molinaro-Thompson, drums (when Ian can’t Sam Colgate can, also on drums); Noah Boshra, saxophone; Robbie Wallace, trombone.
