You are invited to join us for our upcoming FREE professional development seminar on S.P.I.R.E.® a multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham-based intensive reading intervention program.

S.P.I.R.E.® is a research-proven reading intervention program for your struggling students, student with dyslexia, and nonreaders. It is designed to build reading success through an intensive, structured, and spiraling curriculum that integrates phonemic awareness; phonics, word study, and spelling; reading fluency; vocabulary, and text comprehension strategies into an explicit, systematic, and sequential approach to reading instruction, including multisensory intervention strategies in a 10-Step lesson plan.

About the Seminar

Julie Joynt will provide an overview of S.P.I.R.E., an Orton-Gillingham based reading intervention program designed for your struggling readers, students with specific learning disabilities, and nonreaders. In this half-day seminar, you will learn about:



Multisensory, Orton-Gillingham based instruction and addresses the five pillars of literacy



Addressing the needs of your struggling readers, at-risk readers, and students with risk factors for dyslexia



Reinforcing concepts for mastery through a spiraling curriculum



Optimize the use of the S.P.I.R.E. materials and the time saving, teacher-friendly lesson plans included for each lesson



Demonstration of the multisensory teaching techniques utilized throughout the 10-step lesson



Discover the progress monitoring assessments built into the program to ensure student success



Learn how S.P.I.R.E. meets the requirements to provide evidence-based reading instruction and multisensory structured language instruction (Ohio HB 157)

Trainer: Julie Joynt

Julie is a Professional Services Specialist for School Specialty, where she uses her years of educational experience to facilitate and support the implementation of the many educational programs and products of School Specialty to ensure fidelity of use. Julie Joynt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and a Master’s Degree in Language Arts Education also from UCF. Julie taught for over 22 years from Kindergarten to high School.
