- **Event Description**: A birdwatching visit to the grounds of the University of Hertfordshire's Bayfordbury campusAbout this EventWe can park for free in the car park at Bayfordbury Observatory, Lower Hatfield Rd, Bayfordbury, Hertford SG13 8LD.We will meet our guide, Ian Flack, to be shown the best locations for bird spotting in and around the woodland and parkland. The Pinetum was created in 1767 and now has over 200 species of conifer set among 10 acres of parkland.  https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events10/banners/a20c9b10-085a-11f1-8e72-eb9923d9d6b2-rimg-w555-h740-dc2f301a-gmir.jpg At the Pinetum, winding paths take you through the various compartments of the Pinetum: the Monkey Puzzle Dell, Giant Redwoods, a Fernery leading to the Grotto and a Fungal Clock are some of the features to be found here.Afterwards, we will go for a pub lunch - you are welcome to join us or make your own plans.The event is free but a voluntary donation of £2 per person is suggested.Please try and car share. If you would like to do that but are not sure who else is attending, feel free to email the organiser, Rob Blythe, on rbblythe@hotmail.com. Give him your phone number, your address, whether you would prefer to drive, be a passenger or either of those, and whether you intend staying for lunch. By doing so, you are giving him permission to pass on your contact details to others attending the event to see whether car sharing is viable.All welcome, whatever your level of birdwatching knowledge. Bring suitable clothing and footwear for the weather, especially if it has been raining in previous days.The event will go ahead even if it is raining.
