Surface Design for Ceramics with Danielle Inabinet

Explore the art of Sgraffito (slip carving) and Mishima (slip inlay) — two timeless ceramic decoration techniques known for their striking, layered surface designs.
Perfect for artists with a background in drawing or painting, this hands-on class will guide you in applying, carving, and inlaying slip to transform your 2D design skills into dimensional clay work.

Students will learn:
• How to carve and reveal designs using Sgraffito
• How to inlay colored slip with Mishima
• How to apply both techniques to leather-hard ceramics

Taught by Danielle Inabinet, BFA (LSU) and MFA (Tulane), an accomplished ceramic artist and educator whose work blends technical mastery with creativity.

Students will leave feeling confident and inspired to incorporate these techniques into their own ceramic practice.
