We are taking you on a trip to the stunning Basque region located in the western Pyrenees nestled in between the border of Spain and France on the Bay of Biscay. We were lucky to travel to San Sebastián a couple years ago and fell instantly in love with the region. We can't wait to get back to explore more of the Basque Country. Our nostalgia from the trip inspired us to create a dinner to honor this very special region. The scenery is breathtaking, the wine is superb and the cuisine is remarkable. In fact there are 22 Michelin star restaurants in the region with most of them in San Sebastián. Kitchen Proper is partnering with Great Lakes Wine and Spirits with the lovely Megan Hamilton presenting wines from the Basque Country. Join us for a lovely showcase of some of our favorite dishes from the region expertly paired with local Basque wine. The dinner is on Monday July 28th with a cocktail hour, featuring Basque and Spanish favorites from 5-6 P.M. and dinner begins at 6 P.M. $140 per person.
Course One- Pintxo Small Plate, Spanish ham, goat cheese and sun dried tomato crostoni, caramelized onion and Spanish cheese skewer, Spanish olives and almonds, paired with Isastegi Natural Cider
Course Two- Hake (mild slightly sweet fish similar to Cod) San Sebastián style, clams, Txakoli white wine salsa verde sauce, parsley, garlic, paired with Ameztoi Txakolina
Course Three- BBQ Lamb Chops Basquais, brown sugar, Basque sauce made from peppers and tomatoes, Basque cheese and potato cake, paired with Luberri, Orlegi Rioja
Course Four- Beef Cheeks (Txahal Masailak) in tomato beef red wine sauce, roasted and confit piquillo peppers, garlic, roasted porcini mushrooms, paired with Doniene Gorronda, Tinto Txakolina
Course Five- Almond Cream Tart with Fruit and Wine Compote (apple, pear, fig, raisin, spices), paired with Manuel Aragon, Muscatel 'Los Quatro' Sherry
