Discover a transformative journey of unlocking a pathway of understanding through dialogue. Join Dialogue on Race Louisiana for the two-hour session original series starting August 7th. For four Thursdays, you will unpack flawed narratives around race while engaging in complex and vital conversations facilitated by two trained Dialogue on Race Louisiana facilitators.
This series is designed to open space for participants to explore the many facets of race and racism. The Dialogue on Race thought-provoking process encourages meaningful dialogue and self-discovery, providing valuable insights into the race construct.
Weekly Commitment: This series is a weekly commitment; see the schedule listed above.
First Session: Attendance at the first session is required
Session Commitment: You are asked to commit to three out of the four sessions.

Info: This session introduces key terms for understanding race and examines a brief history of race in the United States. Participants explore authentic, accurate history of race and how race is taught and absorbed today, and consider the impact of that history on our current beliefs and behaviors.
Info: This session explores how the structure of race positions whiteness as a preferred status in society. It also examines the role of institutions in maintaining a white-dominant social order and emphasizes the importance of understanding how power functions within systems.
Info: This session focuses on the movement to dismantle the race hierarchy in the U.S. Participants will examine how change has been pursued through legal action, policy shifts, and individual actions and reflect on how this struggle continues today.
Info: This session highlights why talking about race matters and what kinds of conversations are most effective in moving toward ending racism. Participants will consider the difference between talk that maintains the status quo and talk that drives meaningful change.
Info: Dinner and Dialogue offers a more casual format than the Original Series sessions. The first hour is a shared meal and informal conversation; the second hour mirrors the series structure with facilitated dialogue. While the tone is more relaxed, the commitment to open and honest dialogue remains.
