ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Kit Carstairs is the Managing Director of The Manuscript Appraisal Agency (The MAA), an organisation established to support authors honing their writing craft and pursuing publishing opportunities.
The MAA provides editorial services for publishers, literary agents, writers centres, and for independent authors (either looking to self-publish or to prepare their narrative for traditional publishing submissions). The MAA team (of 30 editors) offers authors opportunities to develop their writing through a series of services and programs.
Kit has worked as an inhouse editor (traditional) book and magazine publishing. She has 15 yearsโ experience working with a wide variety of content, including both fiction and general non-fiction.
The MAA is supported by the Australian Society of Authors and the Australian Publishers' Association, among others.
Kit understands the world of publishing and the cooperative nature of the roles played by various parties. She has a comprehensive understanding of the importance of content development and the need for authors to be proactive in developing manuscripts that represent their full potential and is active in the Australian publishing industry.
