“There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand.”
A ghoulish greeting to our November social - Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' in a BRAND NEW adaptation by local writer Thomas Baxter!
Co-hosted by the playwright, this new adaptation stays faithful to Shelley's formidable novel, preserving the tension and terror that made 'The Modern Prometheus' so famous in the first place.
First presented as a two hander at Burdall's Yard in 2025, Baxter has expanded the cast to fully explore the nuances of the original novel, breathing life once again into this iconic text.
Man, myth, monster. Come on down to the Rondo Theatre to discover this electrifying story of creation. ⚡️
Everyone is welcome at our Social Play Readings, where we'll read the play in full, script in hand. There will be breaks to top up teas, discuss the text and chat with Thomas about staging ideas and the translation!
There's no pressure to read if you don't want to but everyone will get the chance to regardless of age/ gender/ etc.
If you think you might be late - come anyway! These events are very relaxed and we'd love for you to join us.
