- **Event Description**: Come and help us dig the first of 3 ponds planned for Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve in the damp woodland area.About this EventJoin us on Saturday 29th Nov at Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve to dig the first of 3 ponds we hope to add to the reserve.Ponds are amazing habitats, supporting so much life, including our amphibian populations. Shiela Gundry, from Froglife, will be leading the session. She is full of knowledge about all things amphibian, and will introduce the session with training on digging ponds.The ponds will be sited in the woodland area, where the stream runs alongside the path, so will be naturally fed by the stream but create areas of standing water.We will take it in turns digging throughout the session, with plenty of opportunity for breaks and to talk/ask questions. Ideally bring a flask with a hot drink and some lunch!The site will be muddy so wear sturdy boots.Please bring a spade if you can.We will meet at the kissing gate, off Charlcombe Way (https://what3words.com/along.shakes.flood) and make our way down to the pond site. Please arrive promptly at 10am for the intro/briefing.All welcome. Children should be supervised by a responsible adult. Digging will be potentially strenuous, come ready for a work-out! The pond site is in the woodland area, with access via a series of steps which will be muddy at this time of year - if you're concerned about access please get in touch.
