Gren Bartley is a songwriter and guitarist whose music sits somewhere between folk, world music, and cinematic song. His writing is guided by melody and atmosphere, with acoustic guitar at the centre, shaped by bottleneck slide and subtle rhythmic detail.
His albums Magnificent Creatures and Quiet received strong critical response, including multiple five-star reviews, and his music has taken him to festivals and venues internationally. Over time his work has moved towards a quieter, more spacious sound, where texture, silence, and small details are allowed to breathe.
His latest work, Sunsets, Circles and Waves, settles fully into that space. It is unhurried and intentional, built around guitar and voice, and shaped by repetition, drift, and emotional clarity. It feels less like a departure and more like an arrival.
Gren will be performing at the Royal Oak, sharing songs from the new and currently unreleased album. Support comes from Oak favourite John Wilson, performing beautifully crafted folk songs, rich in melody and warmth.
