- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 22 Oct, 2026 at 07:00 pm (-05:00)
- **Event Description**: True crime hits differently when the person telling the story was actually there.
Join us for a special evening of Lit at the Paddle with Arkansas investigative journalist and true-crime author George Jared, author of The Creek Side Bones: Reality Is More Horrifying Than Fiction.
George has spent more than two decades reporting on crime in Arkansas. His work includes extensive coverage of the West Memphis Three, the Rebekah Gould murder case, capital murder trials and other cases that have made headlines across our state. He interviewed Damien Echols while Echols was still on death row, and his reporting has been cited in both books and documentary film.
But this night isn't a lecture.
We're going to have a conversation.
We'll talk with George about the cases in The Creek Side Bones, what it's like to report on real crimes and real people, what happens behind the headlines—and we'll have plenty of time for your questions.
