Righto you salty sea dogs… it’s time to test your mettle, your thermals, and possibly your marriage.

Welcome to the Brass Monkey Raid — a winter sailing weekend for those brave (or silly) enough to point their boats toward the chilly waters of Tuggerah Lakes in the middle of June.

There’ll be:
⚓ Day sailing
⚓ Exploring shallow lake country
⚓ Cold mornings
⚓ Questionable decision making
⚓ Campfire (maybe) and storytelling
⚓ Boat camping or car camping
⚓ Plenty of laughs

There will NOT be:
❌ Hot showers
❌ Warm luxury facilities
❌ Organised five-star accommodation
❌ Sympathy from other skippers when your feet go numb

ARRIVAL TIMES:
? Arrive from 9:00am Saturday
? Welcome/chat at 9:30am
⛵ On the water and sailing by 10:30am

Some may choose to camp back at the boatramp, while others may anchor up and camp aboard their boats. We’ll nut out plans as the weekend approaches depending on weather, numbers and how adventurous everyone is feeling.

A quick reality check for newcomers:
Tuggerah Lakes is SHALLOW. Very shallow.
Some areas are barely deeper than a politician’s promise. Sandbars, W**d beds and changing conditions are all part of the fun. I’ve only sailed the lakes twice myself, so this is very much an adventure, not a guided luxury cruise ?

Where we sail and where we stop will depend heavily on prevailing weather conditions, water levels and what the fleet decides on the day. We definitely won’t see the whole lake system in one weekend — but that just gives us an excuse to come back again.

IMPORTANT BORING DISCLAIMER STUFF:
Every skipper is responsible for their own vessel, crew, safety equipment, navigation decisions and common sense (if any is available).

The organiser accepts absolutely no responsibility for:
