With a treasure map in hand, explore Colonel George and Nelle Fabyan’s former estate, Riverbank (now the Fabyan Forest Preserve). Solve clues and riddles to find the “treasures” left by the Colonel & Nelle Fabyan!
Pick up your map and first clue at the Fabyan Villa Museum. The treasure hunt is outdoors, so dress for the weather, and bring your walking shoes. The Villa is approximately 1/2 mile from the parking lot. Expect to walk about another mile throughout the preserve to solve all the clues. The treasure hunt is ideal for families or couples. All children must be supervised.

ONLY ONE MAP IS REQUIRED FOR ANY GROUP OF 10 OR FEWER.
What's included
- Map: Only one map is required per group. Additional maps may be purchased in advance or at the event, but are not necessary.
- PARTICIPATION TRINKET: When your treasure hunt is complete, return to the Fabyan Villa Museum for a small prize.
What's not included
None of the clues for the treasure hunt are located in the Fabyan Villa Museum or Fabyan Japanese Garden, so entry to those sites is not required. The museum and garden will be open from 12-3 PM if you would like to visit. There is a cost of $5 per person to visit the Villa Museum, and the Japanese Garden is free.

The Treasure Hunt at Fabyan is an opportunity to explore the Fabyan Forest Preserve in a way you have never experienced before! With a map in hand, solve each code or riddle to find out where the next one is located. Each group will have a different starting point. BE CAREFUL: The answers must be found in the correct order. If you follow another group, you may solve the clues in the wrong order, and the Fabyans' "treasures" will not be found!
Volunteers will be available from 12-3 PM throughout the Forest Preserve to provide hints to any clues.
